Hallowe’en 1976

Imagine a mid-70s Halloween party on the filming location of John Carpenter’s The Thing with a three-piece krautrock obsessed electronic rock combo creating long plodding yeti funk and haywire electro soundscapes via suitcase-synths and mutant mouth organs!  The cryogenically frozen music on this limited cassette is based on a true story.

Operating as true “outsiders” of electronic American music both artistically and geographically, this interchangeable Alaskan collective headed by electronic harmonica player Gary Sloan would inadvertently prognosticate electro and techno while attempting to reinvigorate the self-contained Anchorage blues rock scene via an addiction to state of the art synthesisers and custom contraptions. Recorded four years before their untravelled milestone LP Harmonitalk, the Hallowe’en sessions are taken from a bottomless archive of direct-to-cassette recorded jam sessions, experiments and custom-built radio themes either entirely unheard or singularly distributed exclusively via the airwaves on Sloan’s very own Import Hour show for Anchorage radio station KGOT.  Taken from a cassette marked Hallowe’en Music recorded on October 31st 1976 and previously unheard outside the confides of the trio’s own rehearsal room, this session provides a further glimpse into a wider dossier of future Cache Cache Clone releases and acts as a perfect companion piece to the equally underexposed Octabred LP (backed with unreleased Suzanne Ciani music) now available via our Disposable Music library subscription series.
