Fans of Finders Keepers handmade limited editions have been patiently waiting for this one for some time, and finally the label’s much revered Zdeněk Liška catalogue gets the bespoke treatment designed in celebration of the legendary composer’s 100th birthday. Combining three classic releases that exemplify the composer’s broad range of talents and forward-thinking methods and applications, this very limited collection comes in unique screen-printed uniformed colour coded packaging, housed in stitched seam custom sleeves and presented in a hand-printed cotton bag complete with a booklet and extensive sleeve notes and artwork. Those who champion Czech folk horror such as Valerie And Her Week Of Wonders and Morgiana will find much to cross-reference here with the combination of lush orchestral and fragile crystalised vocals alongside found sounds and primitive electronics. The soundtracks to the hallucinogenic monochrome milestone The Cremator, the stunning psychedelic take on The Little Mermaid (aka Malá mořská víla) and the truly mind-blowing future music of the Czech sci-fi anomaly Ikarie XB1, will certainly expose the uninitiated to one of the 20th century’s most important composers who, despite his time obscured by the iron Curtain, can now be savoured and widely celebrated alongside the likes of Ennio Morricone, Jean-Claude Vannier, Francois De Roubaix.
