With the rays from Jane Weaver’s The Silver Globe reaching new plains on a daily basis the self-propelled progressive pop stalwart has gained yet more cosmic converts (aka fans) with her second single Mission Desire which has kept radio waves, festival stages and long car journeys awash with placcy Euro funk, grinding synths and tight leather axe magic topped off with some damn good songwriting. However you dress it up this stand out track from the LP that earned Jane Piccadilly Records Album Of The Year (and has since grown from strength to strength) is just a bloody good pop record with a bit of sci-fi comic book chic sprinkled on top. So… we’ve pressed it on to one side of a 7″ single!
After a sleepless summer braving transit vans, flat beer and festival camping, Cardiff’s Tender Prey top and tails once again sharing vinyl sides with label mate Jane Weaver by committing The Pleasure Pain Principle to straight up black wax. Described on this very site as “a pocket tantrum” this noisy, saucy/sweet three-piece (headed by wordy energy magnet Laura Byron) delivers a drummy standout track from the download and tape only album Organ Calzone (made at Sweet Baboo’s studio) with a pain-peon complete with stuttering Monks-esque organs and an accompanying video filmed at a local gym with little regard for the well presented health and safety placards.
