Description

Commercially unreleased industrial themed musical experiments by master Italian multi-instrumentalist Alessandro Alessandroni (aka Braen/The Pawnshop) composed, recorded and performed at Piero Umiliani’s Sound Work Shop in Rome 1976.

Utilising and manipulating a wide range of studio equipment – guitars and string instruments, a treated Petrof grand piano, a “tacked” honky tonk piano, percussion, tape loops and a much envied modified EMS Synthi VC3 modular system – Alessandroni created one of his most creative and individualistic concept albums to date as a commission for the library subscription specific Octopus imprint.

Industrial (Industriale) is a unique and early example of an a versatile Italian multimedia musician pushing sonic boundaries at the height of his career as a well-loved soundtrack composer (intrinsically associated with Ennio Morricone and Edda Dell Orso) while laying foundations for a new breed of Italian sound designers, concrètists and synthesists such as co-conspirators Giuliano Sorgini (aka Raskovich) Daniela Casa , Odoardo Radicchi (aka Lamartine) and Rino de Filippi (aka Gisteri).

This relatively unknown (but fervently sought after) suite maintains a focussed central theme (literally pre-empting the early notions of an entire genre movement) and displaying Alessandroni’s creative diversity as a musician and orchestrator while boasting many of his indelible signatures carved throughout his earlier work for Giallo film and international alternative cinema.
